The Course Is The First In The City Of Youngstown

On Friday, October 20th, Youngstown CityScape and its project partners dedicated a new 9-hole disc golf course in Wick Park.

Disc Golf is similar to traditional golf with the goal being to complete each hole in the fewest strokes. Instead of a ball and clubs, players use a specialized golf disc which is similar to a Frisbee. The discs are thrown into specialized, elevated basket instead of a hole. Trees, shrubs, and terrain changes provide challenging obstacles for the golfer. Disc Golf is one of the fastest growing park sports in the nation.

Completed scorecards can be taken to nearby Cultivate Cafe (901 Elm Street) for 10% off a meal.

Project Partners: Youngstown CityScape, City of Youngstown Parks & Recreation, Youngstown State Campus Recreation, Course Designer Trevor Murphy (Borderline Discs)

Sponsors: Youngstown City Council, Mayor John McNally, Edward’s Flowers, Jet Creative, Mahoning Valley Disc Golf Association, Mike Makes Signs, Cultivate Cafe, Ursuline High School, And Numerous Individuals Online Contributors (GoFundMe).
